Liked the atmosphere here but a little loud for my sensitive ears. We got bottomless mimosas & my fiancée had the huli huli chicken. I took off 1 star ? because the chicken was undercooked but they didn't charge us for it. Overall a great spot to go and socialize

So this is mainly a bar, in my opinion. Well the restaurant side is no longer open, or as of now for covid, but the item we ordered was undercooked and didn't come close to what I recognize the name to be. I ordered the huli huli chicken, what was prepared seemed to be like a honey BBQ dipped chicken. That was the only reason I chose to give this place 4 starts. The bartender was nice and attentive, with how busy it got.

The Lobster Omelette is Magnificat!! And the wide selection of European pastries make me nostalgic for my travels.

  • *****

I eat in this nice place many times a year! This is the best place to grab a bite. I visit this place routinely. The meals are of high quality, the workers are helpful and the prices are affordable. I like meeting in this place for a nice lunch.

  • *****

Cool place I like the style. Definitely get the scorpion bowl!!!! Good service stuff I'm glad there are still good Ohana Kitchen and Cocktails bars.

  • *****

Really great venue (if the name didn't give it away) super fun non the less. Will definitely go back.

  • *****

The brunch menu was amazing! We had the breakfast burrito and a rice bowl.
The burrito has fresh avocado, eggs, sausage, pico and more. Perfect to share while watching the game and having a draft beer. The rice bowl was devoured so quickly I can't tell you what all was in it, besides a fried egg... It was scrumptious! The bartender chatted me up about shows and things to do while in California. Was a great experience for a first time!

  • *****

Friendly staff. Fast and good food.

  • *****

This place has souch to offer in ambience, fun and drinks. The food sounds great, very gormet, but to he chicken, and hamburger were under cooked. I'd still come back, but be aware.

  • *****

Great to sit outside and people watch!

  • *****

    Friendly staff, and good food!

  • *****

A Mano is just fantastic. This restaurant should be a school example how you manage a Ohana Kitchen and Cocktails restaurant.

  • *****

Hadn't been here in years, and after a day paddle boarding, a fresh grilled hamburger was perfect. Outdoor and some patio seating available, but great to sit outside and people watch!

  • *****

Good food, terrible country music playing overhead. $$

  • *****

Great food and cold drinks what else could you ask for!!

  • *****

We went here for a Happy Hour pre-meal cocktail on NYE. We had some wine and enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar. It wasnt too busy yet but staff was nice. Would like to return for dinner sometime. Great location on the beach side of PCH.

  • *****

We luckily got there early to see a band in the bar area. This place got so crowded it was hard to get to dance to that great band that played so well. Drinks were strong and mostly the crowd was very nice people. We had lots of fun!!

  • *****

Service was great. Food recipes were great. Cocktails are only so so.

One of our most favorite weekend brunch spots. The staff is wonderful and extremely welcoming. Fantastic food and drinks. Plus... live music! We've also attended their monthly paint and sip nights and have had such a wonderful and fun experience each time. Trivia Monday is also great! Plus... free hot dogs that night. Woohooo!

  • *****

Great food! Only 2 blocks from the beach. Happy Hour was from 3-6pm. We sat on the patio. Great and fast service.

I had a great experience at Obama with my friends! From the fresh spicy Tuna hand roll, to the amazing Short rib and Mahi Mahi fish tacos, our dinner could not have tasted better. David the chef also took the time to make sure our food was exactly how we wanted it. I can’t wait to go back next week and try the Scallops and hand made fettuccini. Wow

  • *****

Nice little local bar, everyone seemed really friendly, live music on the weekends!

  • *****

Food was great..the house band The Shenanigans was a great way to end my week...i joe you bring that band back many more times

  • *****

this place is so cool! we stumbled upon this bar/restaurant while visiting sunset beach. sam is fantastic and she is the reason we drove the 40 minutes just so we could sit and drink in that very chill atmosphere 2 days in a row. she is so sweet and friendly! i would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cool local vibe :)

This place was amazing! We were in town for our father's funeral ceremony. We found Ohana on yelp after the ceremony, and we're so glad we did. Ryan was absolutely amazing and took good care of us. We had a party of 9 with 3 kids under age 9. It can be difficult to find a place that can accommodate everyone's food likes. However, everyone was very happy with their meals, and drinks! We are so thankful they were able to accommodate our larger party. The outside doesn't look super
Fancy, but inside and the bathrooms are super nice!

  • *****

Great food and ambiance. Service was fantastic. We had the mahi mahi tacos and the shrimp tacos. Chips were great as well. We were there around 5 PM. Not crowded. Definitely worth it for the food, service and tap selection.

  • *****

Ohana‘s is one of the best places to go in Sunset Beach! The owners are down to earth, beautiful people , The staff is personable and professional, The live music is always great and they are chef, Marc is beyond any in SoCal!!! He is amazing and he recently updated and made some fabulous new additions to the menu

  • *****

Love this place! Will definitely be back. My husband was definitely right in coming here! Our bar tender Ryan was awesome. Can't wait to go back to try their food.

  • *****

Great food, good service and friendly staff.
    Entertainment nightly

Best way to describe this place is by saying that it's a cool little bar with amazing food! I ordered steak and eggs but it's not your average steak and eggs as you can see by the pics. The steak was more like a petite filet. 1/2 lb NY steak, 2eggs, potato cubes in Hollandaise sauce & asparagus spears. My son ordered the Ohana Burger, holy shit delicious! Yes i tried his food. I had a Bloody Mary and it was really tasty but word to the wise it's spicy so order them accordingly. Great service from the bartender. Really friendly place.

Love their Chilaquiles! I've only tried a few other items; fried rice, ginger cauliflower and their fries. Everything was delicious! Service is fast, the bartender/servers are pretty attentive. Definitely recommend this place. Can't wait to go back.

  • *****

Great place with a chill atmosphere and awesome staff. Food is bomb( mahi tacos) and on the weekend they do bottomless mimosas and build your own Bloody Mary. Ryan is the bartender to get. Knows your name from the get go and super friendly to everyone. Tvs always have sports on and just great hidden gem

  • *****

The best tacos in California!!! Came here to do painting with Seah and we had the Braised beef tacos and shrimp tacos and we love them... they were so awesome. I would drive 35 miles again just to have them!!!

  • *****

Great food, live music almost daily, excllent staff and management. Highly recommend Ohana.

  • *****

Third time trying out Ohana's and I had the best service each time. This time stuck out though because I came to the bar and Taylor was working. She is super nice and welcoming, huge fan. She makes some great cocktails and some even better suggestions. 5 stars for the restaurant but 10 stars for Taylor, will be becoming a new regular ;)

  • *****

Stumbled in here after booking a hotel in sunset beach on a business trip (long story) looking for some food and a drink since I had nothing better to do. The bartender was super delightful and taught me a little about the area. Plenty of TVs to watch sports, but doesn't have an overly sporty vibe. The vibe is relaxed and a bit nautical and music is good. The place is very comfortable :)

Had the shepherds pie taco, which was delicious. The flavors are in fact a bit elevated for what might otherwise be perceived as bar food.

Honestly, this was such a delightful surprise and I'd totally be a regular down here if I lived here.

  • *****

Great drinks and a live band. Staff was great and cheerful. Enjoyable place to come to.

  • *****

Came in a little late for dinner, servers were fantastic giving a run down of everything, drinks were fantastic and food was no disappointelment either with both the server and the chef who were able to make my girlfriend the special even though she's lactose intolerant, guess when you make things from scratch and not prepackaged and cooked before the place opens you can do things like that. Oh and the Japanese cheesecake...... Yes! Just get it. Two entrees, 4 drinks and dessert for under a $100 in Orange County and all made fresh to order, where the hell else can you do that..... And exceptional service to boot.....

    Thanks again Ohana!

  • *****

Great for what is was! Loud and busy, but excellent service all around, food was excellent, many vegetarian options, decent craft beer options, reasonable prices and q fun location. Nice private party hosting and space too!

  • *****

First time walk in. Great experience and drinks from Ryan. Next time I'll have to try the food but we will be back! Thanks Ryan!

  • *****

We were looking for some good seafood and drinks, this really hit the spot!! Service was great, Garrett was very attentive and all his suggestions were on point!! Most definitely a place we would visit again!!

  • *****

Fun place to party and great food

  • *****

I'm a first time "local" eating at this restaurant and WOW - food was amazing! We started with the cauliflower appetizer, fantastic mix of flavors. For our main course my husband ordered the short ribs special - Super tender. I had the seafood curry ramen and I loved it. Our server Taylor was great too. My jalapeo margarita was too spicy and I let her know, "no problem" she said, and changed it out for me. Must come and eat here, you won't be disappointed.

  • *****

Nick the bartenders worth every bit of a 5 star. The service is great and music is very good great for a Tuesday. Robert Parker

  • *****

This is your backup when Jack's is crowded. It's not the same, but it works. Cocktails are fairly decent, but the salty feel of Jack's is what it is.

  • *****

There was a private party, so the service for regular people was bad, and the corned beef hash was bad.

  • *****

Amazing live music, cozy little bar, good drinks

  • *****

The sea bass was delicious! Always fun at Ohanas!

  • *****

The atmosphere was amazing. We watched a live band and the joint was jumping. We sat at the bar, had the most cordial and attentive bartender, and really enjoyed ourselves. No cover.

  • *****

Can't give this place enough stars. Gotta try their curry ramen.. OMG the best curry soup noodle I've had, with lot of scallop, crab legs, and shrimps. The bowl was flavorful and beautifully made. We also had half dozen oysters on half shelves, which were super fresh/juicy.

  • *****

We usually go across the street, but were looking for a new place that had King Crab. Gave them a call & reserved a table. They were so accommodating w elderly my Mom. Staff is great, food is delicious. (Fyi, this review is from 2017)

  • *****

I had the weekend special Lomo Saltado. It's a Peruvian beef dish with bell peppers gravy severed on top of home made fries. The beef was tender and favor full. On top of the dish was micro greens that brighten up the dish and a soy glaze which was fantastic. Recommend highly.

  • *****

Mark , created a dinner for us, lobster special accompanied by Farm raised Scottish salmon, capped by desert . Overall intense flavors and great customer service.

  • *****

I love coming here when there's live music!! The food and drinks are great! Especially the cute bartender!

  • *****

Ryan is the best and the food rocks (the grilled cheese and tomato soup special was amazing)

  • *****

We went here for my birthday. They allowed us to do a paint wine night here with a group of 33 people. It was a success. The owner decorated for me and the food was great! Everything everyone ordered they all said was amazing. I had the Rueben, they loved the burger the mushroom flat bread the mahi tacos and the salmon dinner plate. Thanks again!!!

  • *****

Great food (rethink non-chopped salads) football is awesome! Sunday-early afternoon-drink and food service is without question solid! Thank you Ryan and Taylor! Restaurant/ Bar/ restrooms impeccably clean... Hopeful that they realize loud music when sports are on may be why people leave, and an investment in sound system that doesn't buzz would be beneficial.

    Happy result- rough start. Lol!

This place was recommended by a local friend. We just moved in the area. And on a very windy and rainy Thursday ( yes tropical rain in California... go figure). So we walked in and they asked us we wanted to sit at the bar, no we want to eat, isn't there food? So yes, she walked us to the back, kind of a dark place, a but cold, completely empty restaurant and sat in the corner by the kitchen... So I am saying all that because at first I was really doubting our decision to go there. Then the music in the kitchen was as loud as the music in the dining room, lol. That corner is not the best seats in the house. So since it was empty we moved ourselves to the middle. So then our plates arrived .

That was the wow moment. It was beautiful and delicious. I had the porc chop with pepper sauce and potato gnocchi... I absolutely loved it. I also had the Frangelico/espresso martini. Delightful! And it was so good, I don't remember what my husband had, but he liked it to.

So I am guessing that on a beautiful day , that place must be completely packed. No doubt about that. And it looks like they have live music on other days. So I definitely plan to come back and get the full experience and try another delicious dish on the menu.

I live near Ohana and go to "Taco Tuesday" pretty much every week at 7:30 pm when the music starts. A "blues trio" plays real good music and I've tried all the tacos ... and, they are the best tacos I've ever had! My favorite is the 2 chicken taco plate. The staff has always been friendly and makes me feel comfortable. I've been there other nights and the music has always been good local talent.

  • *****

Stopped in for a few margaritas and the loaded fries. Both were SO good! Great service, such friendly staff. The place was clean and had good music on. Bathrooms were also very clean, the whole place has this pirate ship feel to it it's so much fun! Definitely going back and recommend you stop by!

  • *****

I got the Ohana burger and Japanese cheesecake. Wow amazing! The burger was so crisp and flavorful. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious. Plus, the restaurant has really nice interior and entertainment! Will definitely come back.

  • *****

Fabulous food and a surprisingly good band. Fun crowd of beachy folks.

  • *****

Very cool place. Made from scratch menu and good drinks. Bottomless mimosas and good music.

  • *****

The food is awesome. The chef there is super talented. Pretty amazing menu esp since it’s all scratch kitchen. Everything from their bread to desserts! ?

  • *****

Always great vibes, food and music. Those loaded carnitas fries are killer

  • *****

The fish and chips were probably the best my Mom and I have had! The fish tacos were also REALLY good. The homemade vanilla ice cream, however, was over churned and had the consistency of butter. The strawberry was great though. And our server was very sweet and attentive! Overall, a great dining experience

  • *****

Awesome service from all the worker's good food. Loved Madison Grove performance tonight they ROCK ???

  • *****

Great live music booked here. Friendly staff, good food, nice craft beers, and pro bartenders. A true asset to have in "the bubble" of sunset beach.

  • *****

What a fabulous food and drink place. Live music many nights, very popular with the locals. Hawaiian food that is delicious. Cocktails also well worth testing!! Not the cheapest place but we visited twice in 3 days it was so good.

  • *****

First time here. Very loud up front because you walk through the bar to get to the dining room. We were seated in the back bar area which was very quiet compared to the front. I ordered the Coconut Curry Seafood Ramen which was delicious. My wife had the corned beef sandwich on sourdough instead of the marble rye. That was also very delicious. Overall the food was great and the atmosphere is good. They also have live bands play but we came after their set ended. Will definitely come back.

  • *****

Pretty good food, easy for a peaceful night. Not a super huge selection but I'm satisfied!

  • *****

Love this place. Good vibes, great staff, dank food. Came here with some friends and had a great experience because of our server Garrett. Coming back!!!!!!!!!!

  • *****

Would highly recommend this place ! I come in as a Regular with friends and family Daily. This place is welcoming and Deliciously amazing, the Bartenders are extremely talented, the servers Hustle, and the food is killer. Always leave satisfied, Definitely give this place an opportunity, especially with Chef Mark !

  • *****

Excellent restaurant and bar. Favorite by locals and tourists. Food was delicious, specifically tender and juicy pork loin. Great atmosphere with live rock music playing classic hits. Good service.

  • *****

Good food and music. Cozy for a bar.

Had a great time here last night watching the Satyn Dolls perform. The food was delicious & the bartender, Nick, took great care of us.

  • *****

Best Curry Ramen ever! Well worth the $25.00. The house band are amazing. I'm recommending family and friends to go and Enjoy the simple life!

  • *****

Wow amazing find. Garret was our waiter, super nice guy and great service. Garret recommended the pork chop right away. We had hand rolls, oysters, pork chops and the short ribs. Will definitely be back, loved the band too.

  • *****

Dax is a great host and server, will always come back from Houston TX to eat and drink here.

  • *****

Great local vibe. Great drinks. Great menu. Great burger. Great service. I will be back to enjoy that vibe again and those clams that I really wanted to try. No complaints only praise. Thanks you Ohana!

  • *****

Had an absolutely wonderful time. The food was superb and they had have the best cider in town. Oysters on the half shell were to die for. Two enthusiast thumbs up!!??

  • *****

We had dinner at this Local Sunset Beach Bar and Kitchen, I had the special of the night an open faced short rib sandwich with an egg on top, it was super yummy, cooked and prepared perfectly and crowned with an egg you can't go wrong with this plate of food. My wife enjoyed the pork chops, well seasoned and perfectly cooked with a side of root veggies . A couple of cocktails and a piece of Japanese cheesecake finished of the meal perfectly! A walk on the beach as the sun was setting was the perfect end to a wonderful evening!

  • *****

First time here and I tried their chicken sandwich with fries. Kind of surprised but It was pretty damn good. Kind of craving one while I'm writting this review...gotta go back!

  • *****

Love Love Love So happy that SAS left and was replaced by a new place with better drinks and a better atmosphere! It used to be too dark in here, but they redecorated and now the place really rocks! It is a new place so just be patient and I am sure they will work out all the kinks. I tried the shrimp and it was done perfectly. I'm looking forward to visiting often!

  • *****

This place has upped its game! My husband and I have visited there 3 times now. The food and ambience is much better than the previous establishment Schooner at Sunset (S.A.S.) And the service has been wonderful. The seafood Louie is incredible and the salmon was lovely. Looking forward to trying the Cioppino and the Alaskan King Crab. I hoping that Ohana uses the same vendor as Captain Jacks for their crab legs.

  • *****

We had the Best experience at Ohana. I Had the crab legs So Good. We also had the mahi taco's, steamers, clam strips and ceviche. Everything was perfect! The staff greeted my family very fast, sat us fast, gave us a run down of the menu and great suggestions. Food came out great. I also wanted to thank Ohana for knowing about food allergies as our daughter has severe peanut allergies and could tell me what was in the food and how it was cooked. We will definitely be back.

  • *****

I wish I could give Ohana more stars! What a delightful surprise. Chef Mark's fried clams were reminiscent of HoJo's of year's past. The quesadilla was the best we've ever had. You must try the homemade...yes homemade!!!...wholewheat bagel with lox...incredible! Ohana is a hidden jewel...but not for long! Thank you Mark!

  • *****

Since my last review Ohana has completely turned itself around in my opinion. The service is consistently excellent every time I go there now. The icing on the cake is that the food is amazing as well. Good job guys!

  • *****

I have now dined at Ohana's on 3 occasions. I am so very excited to share that the new chef Mark is extraordinary and quite creative. Food at this location (another restauranteur) was marginal at best. The menu is diverse and very reasonably priced for the quality and creativity! I will return often to try as many things a I can. A must for Huntington Harbour & HB residents, you won't be disappointed with the food or delicious cocktails!!

  • *****

Stopped in late on a Thursday after a looong day of work. What a pleasant surprise - Kitchen serves until 10 and live music! I was way over dressed in my work duds, but no big deal. I sat at the bar solo and ordered the Seafood Louie - Huge shrimp and fresh, real crab meat on a large tasty salad that included asparagus spears. The drink menu is larger than the food menu... say no more. Brian behind the bar was sure to check on my and was extremely responsive to my questions and requests. The singer/guitar player was really good and did a great job of getting the crowd going with her solid renditions of classics from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I will definitely go back both solo and with friends.

  • *****

I just had the greatest skinny margarita I have ever had. It was made by Sam. She is here on Sunday mornings. If you are in the area you should stop by. You will not be disappointed.

  • *****

Great atmosphere, awesome drinks, and extremely friendly staff. Sadly that combination isn't too common in Sunset beach, so we're really glad to have found Ohana. Great prices can't go wrong coming here.

  • *****

We have been going to this location for years as it's morphed from old school beach dinner house Harpoon Harry's to something in between as SAS and now Ohana. The new owners have really embraced this place as their own as well they should being locals and it's working! This place has been refreshed in the right places and remodeled where needed. The wait staff is helpful, friendly and work well together. The menu is thoughtful in that it is smaller but varied with something for every appetite. The food is a mashup of everything from appetizers to gourmet pub grub to fine dining. We had the cauliflower appetizer and it was amazing. Trust me it was not what you might expect. I could eat a bucket of it. Packed with flavor and a little spicy. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos on cheese crusted flour tortillas.... need I say more? Very good! My wife had the lemon and herb roasted half chicken with smoked mashed potatoes and sauted Brussels sprouts with tomatoes. Delicious! Cocktails are made correctly from real ingredients and not just sprayed from a gun with the pour being quite generous and not measured. Live music is a plus without being to loud for the bar area.

There is a new small bar area in the back with a very large HD TV for let's say football games? What do you think RAIDER fans? Check it out as they have the NFL package.

Overall a great experience. We will be going back here soon. Good job so far.

  • *****

We spent my Husbands birthday at Ohana's with a bunch of friends...what a blast! So spacious for events with all the separate rooms. They've only been open 1 month.... still working out the kinks.
The Staff are friendly, the vibe & energy is great, yummy food...what more could you ask for...
oh yea the band...love live music and great tunes. Check it out...it will only get better!

    Debbie C.

Only reason for 4/5 stars is the ambiance. The food and service DEFINITELY get 5/5 stars. Starting with the amazing: the food!!! I will be back for that for sure! We had Poke, ceviche, guacamole, Salmon, Kimchi Rice, and Kimchi burgers. The house made kimchi is the best I've ever tasted with the perfect amount of crunch and spice. I'm going to dream of that stuff especially when it was paired with a burger. So creative!! The poke was so fresh and tasty, we ordered a second one. I'm dying to try their Kalbi but they were sold out. Strange menu but because of that, there is something for everyone. The servers couldn't have been more attentive. Now for the bad: the vibe can't make up its mind. The bar area is old school good old boy local spot with a splash of dive bar. The dining room is fine dining. Creates a very strange conflict especially with an adjacent extra room that maintains the dive. The prices are decent...they just need to figure out how to marry the kitchen to the bar.

  • *****

My husband and I live right up the street and we were very excited to try the new incarnation of that location. We were not disappointed! They have it all...great food, kind staff, live music and even a cozy corner if you're so inclined. The artichoke dip with fresh chips and crustinis were a perfect start. We graduated to the rib eye and....oh my gosh...my mouth is still watering! Whether your a local coming for a decent drink or a tourist looking for a Rainbow (thier signature blended concoction with a dark rum floater), you will be pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality! We will definitely be back!!

  • *****

Drinks were good and people inside were nice. Employees were helpful. It was a random stop and I don't regret it. If I'm in the area again, would definitely make a stop here

  • *****

First time at establishment. Great customer service. Tommy was an excellent server and made our visit an exceptional one. Food was fabulous, we had fish tacos and pork chops. Will be back when we're back in town.

  • *****

    Great atmosphere !
New cheff and renovated menu is amazing ! This place is definitely a new regular place to eat.

  • *****

We love Ohana! Tasty delicious fresh food and the best bartenders too! We love to come for food, drinks and dancing It's definitely a fun night out in Sunset! This is a must do for a fun evening! If you haven't done it, do it - you will have a blast!

  • *****

Here on a roudy Saturday night to see my best friends' band, my glass of champagne got knocked over and Steve was there to save the day! Bartenders are on TOP OF IT! Great service, very thoughtful, kind & attentive. Wonderful first experience at this new restaurant/bar! Thank you Ohana!

  • *****

Larry our server was incredible, The food was fresh it was awesome Mark the chef came out great it jspoke with us shared his vision on the menu we will definitely be back we really enjoyed everything didn't leave a single morsel on the plate

  • *****

Came in here after our morning run on a Sunday morning. Sam the bartender served us. She makes a great Bloody Mary! My wife and I had the Eggs Benedict. AMAZING!

  • *****

If you're looking for good food, great drinks, and a friendly staff, then Ohanas is a great pick! Quickly becoming a Sunset Beach favorite. MUCH improved since it was SAS and it's obvious the new owners know how to run a restaurant/beach bar. I highly recommend the ribeye. Tell Angelo, Taylor, and Summer that Jim sent ya!

  • *****

I think this is one of my favorite bars/restaurants in Sunset Beach. A good selection of beers on tap and really good ceviche that is on the happy hour menu. The clam strips are awesome too. Super friendly/attentive service.

  • *****

I came to dinner with really nice expectations, Larry was our server and turn our experience form good to GREAT.
The food was amazing we heard it was good
    OMG
    So much better.
You should not miss this experience.

  • *****

Everything was pleasant and absolutely delicious! The rainbow cocktail was definitely fitting for the summer socal setting. The chef octopus tasting menu was fantastic. The fresh grilled octopus was amazing and grilled to perfection. Two thumbs up to the chef!

  • *****

Came here on the fly on a Saturday night. The place didn't seem to get busy until around 8PM. They have a live band/bar in the front and more traditional dining area in the back. I will say that I got the Pina Colada drink and it wasn't that great. But that was the only bad thing I can say. The food was FANTASTIC! The chips, sauces and pretty much everything is home made. The fish and chips that I got was super good. But what tops off the night was the Reuben sandwich that my fianc got. It was THE BEST REUBEN THAT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I highly recommend.

  • *****

Can you say fun? Live music and great food. We had Steve as our excellent bar tender and server

  • *****

Ate there last night in the dining room. We wanted to catch up with friends and it was quieter in the back. Had an awesome meal!!
Started with cauliflower appetizer which was very good. We had a variety of dishes which were all different and tasty! My favorite was the pork chop - awesome and huge! Wonderful melding of flavors with gnocchi. Want it again just writing about it!!! After diner wandered into the busy bar with fun live music and many characters. A good night out.

Uses to be Harpoon Harry's and then Schooners at Sunset (SAS) and now Ohana's. Great location and they really cleaned up the place. Cocktails we had were excellent and we ordered Mango Habanero wings (great), sashimi and steamers. Everything was good and service was on spot. So happy to have Ohana's in the neighborhood!

Bomb mango habanero wings and beer. Chill spot outside. The beach is walking distance(like less than 5 minutes)

Was in town this place turned out to be amazing. Anyone out Huntington Beach...be prepared it's paradise.

Don't let the loud bar music deter you! The dining room is great, quiet and the food is good too. The tortilla chips and guacamole were amazing and the poke was good as well! We almost didn't go in because we thought it would be too loud to converse but were pleasantly surprised when the hostess brought us to the spacious dining room!

Thank you to the Ohana family! We made a last minute reservation for a party of 30 after the first restaurant we reserved at couldn't accommodate us. They were so patient and kind! We are a loud and crazy group but they welcomed us with open arms.

We were able to pull off the ultimate birthday surprise. The restaurant is spacious and they blocked off the back room for us. We enjoyed their brunch and bottomless champagne. The servers were very attentive and we had a wonderful time.

They are at a prime location, just steps away from Sunset Beach.

If you're looking for a great place for lunch and cocktails, I highly recommend Ohana!

Ordered the special, Short Ribs. The meat was cooked perfectly. It was served on top of a bed of rice which was more like risotto. The plate was garnished with micro greens which gave the plate brightness and spice when eaten all together. The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. Recommend it highly.

Wow!! Great dinner and fabulous music!! So great to have another place in Sunset Beach to have excellent food and good entertainment at a reasonable price.
    Ohanas figured it out!

Locals opened this great place! They understand what the locals like! A place to meet up talk story and have a great meal! Homemade chips/salsa! Food always fresh!

I was visiting Huntington Beach and was looking for a local place to eat. Driving on PCH, I located "Ohana," which I know means "family" and sat down. From the person at the door, to the host, to the manager and finally the server, I found the customer service to be outstanding. They were pleasant and helpful, without being overbearing.

In the bar, was a live band playing cover songs. The crowd inside reminded me of locals, both young and old, who were welcoming. It was a nice atmosphere and one that was inclusive.

I wanted basic food, so I selected the "Ohana burger." It was great. From the presentation, to the quick service to the taste; a resounding 5 stars. I'd recommend "Ohana" to everyone of my friends, including my presumptuous foodie friends.

I'll be coming back for sure. If you're in the area, you'll enjoy it for sure!

Celebrated my birthday in the back room, everything was great! We had about 20 people, the food was great as well as the service

So, we were staying near here and after walking to a few places we decided to go in and check his place out. I was skeptical at first. I wasn't sure if it was our scene. Well, I am so glad we did! Our bartender was awesome! Jeremiah, you are such a kick ass guy! You are a great bartender and were working you ass off! The other bartender was also hustling!

The food was so delicious and the drinks, ohhhh my goodness! The "Rainbow" was so good! I wish we lived closer so we could go more often.

Thanks for such a fun atmosphere!

Very good service, food and drinks all around. My and my very picky best friend went last night and had no complaints. I got the seafood Louise salad which was excellent as well as the ceviche to start. Prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely worth the visit. I will be going back.

We wandered in here randomly on a Friday night. We couldn't figure out what to do, or go on our "date night." Few cold ones, and some eats sounded good enough after a long hard week for the both of us. After deciding we weren't hungry enough for another famous location on Sunset we wandered across the street to Ohana.
If you visited this location when it was SAS it looks the same, smells the same, and very similar.
We kind of had a rough start. Took awhile to get menus, and drinks. We eventually just went to the bar ourselves. But eventually the staff paid extra attention to us, and the service was great!
I ordered the ceviche, and he ordered the Reuben. Not the best we've had for either orders. So I will tell you exactly what we told the waitress.... "not bad." (Nodding of the head).
We will try the breakfast soon because it sounded delicious! We will also come again because well... we noticed our friends band will be playing here for their live entertainment in the very near future.

I found Ohana by following Chef Mark Gutierrez on Instagram ever since an amazing birthday dinner at Playground 2.0.

The food was amazing, as expected. We had the salmon poke, ceviche, and chips and guac for starters. Everything was beautiful prepared and had amazing flavor.

For entrees we had another salmon poke (it was THAT good), Scottish salmon with roasted veggies, kimchi burgers and kimchi sushi rice.

The cocktail selection is vast, along with a great beer selection.

I can't wait to go back! Thanks Chef Mark!

Caesar Salad - amazing had a slight heat to it which was a little different. extremely good and would order again.

Short Ribs - melted in your mouth instantaneously. falling apart and mouth-watering goodness.

will definitely be returning at some point.

The food here is incredible, the young chef mark is up and coming star. The best in sunset beach.

The food and cocktails were amazing! We had a great time. It started off a little rocky when no one greeted us or offered menus. But then the chef happened to be running out some food and stopped to chat with us. From there the service was excellent, the drinks were great and food was killer.
The ambiance is ok and a little dingy, but with such good food and drinks who cares!
We are already looking forward to heading back!

This is very "OC Beach restaurant" to the nth power. As in: it reminds you that every restaurant along the Pacific Coast Highway seems to have a "you're in a boat"-theme in some way. We get it. You're by the beach.

But what do you get when you take that and combine it with 1970s cocktail lounge, sports pub, piano bar, and evening steakhouse together? You get Ohana. Menu is an interesting mashup, too: you can get kimchi mixed with "American" seafood stuff mixed with what seemed like TexMex dishes. What?!?

I say embrace the chaos. Not everything has to be perfectly symmetrical in life. The food was good, and weird stuff just happens in the OC.

There are times when you come for happy hour and realize how amazing your meal is! Came for happy hour and were so pleasantly surprise how great the food and service is! Had the shrimp and mahi tacos ( a must!) and chicken quesadilla (worth ordering!) Our waitress (Samantha) was super nice and on top of her service! Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I were visiting Sunset Beach and found this very cool place. Great service and buried treasure. Sunday Funday

    4.5* rounded up.

There's a good-sized parking lot in back, which is good to know. This is PCH, and no parking on the street.

When you walk in, it's the bar area you first encounter. It's a beach bar. Feels tiki. Feels old school, like a place where there are lots of regulars, particularly on the weekend. We came on a Sunday and plunked ourselves at a corner of the bar. The locals were super friendly, so any concern on that front evaporated quickly.

I like to order a martini at new bars, just to get an idea of things. I did make sure to specify gin. And dry. Well-made, free pour, and James Bond "shaken not stirred." It was a BMF! I did have to ask for olives.

I followed that with one of their special drinks, one you'd like to find at 7-11. The Rainbow is a layered slushee drink, each layer a different tropical fruit flavor impregnated with rum. To be sure there's enough rum, I guess, they float 151 rum on top. This was ridiculously tasty, and any concern at how I might look with my hands wrapped around this baby were allayed by how much I no longer cared. A must.

We tried the cauliflower tempura appetizer. Killer. The tempura is a complement to the cauliflower. It does not overwhelm it like the coating on,say, onion rings often can. The mildly spicy sauce and small slices of scallions and ginger on top act as an umami foil to the veggies. A meal in itself if you're a vegetarian. Enough for 2 to share without quarreling. $7.

We also shared the 1/2 roasted chicken special. Nice crispy skin. I could eat a whole plate of that skin!! Served with super creamy smashed potatoes and a warm roasted tomatoes and greens salad, we were stuffed when we finished. The chicken was moist and perfectly cooked.

The menu is a mix of American diner (think burgers) with twists, like the cauliflower dish, what might be called new-American that are the handiwork of Chef Mark Gutierrez, formerly at Playground in Santa Ana. Mark is a talented young chef, and, frankly, I don't think I would have ever ventured here if I hadn't discovered this was his new home.

My wife and daughter will be joining me next time, most likely for a Taco Tuesday (and the corned beef taco!!). We'll eat in the large dining room--I forgot to mention that!!!--which is family friendly.

But I look forward to sitting at that bar again, too, with the other locals!!

They have a rat problem. Think twice about going there. And unfriendly bartenders. We were from out of town and totally turned off.

This place does everything great! We usually go to Captain Jacks but is was too busy so we came across the street and had a great meal and excellent service.
The Salmon Salad and the pork Chops are the Bomb.
Kalbi ribs and Shishito pepper are a great starter. We loved it so much we went back for brunch on Sunday and that was awesome as well. This is place YOU HAVE TO TRY!!! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

Here we are at our favorite neighborhood restaurant and Mark - the Chef - blew us away again!! C'mon Mark! STOP IT!!
The Agua- Chile is absolutely amazing!

  • *****

Food was great but service was extremely slow for the restaurant being only half full. 2 hours for dinner and we had to rush and pay the check before our entrees even arrived so we could try to make our movie. Waitress barely ran by our table and never checked on us at all. Do not go here expecting any kind of service at all.

The oysters 3/5 were tiny and one oyster didn't have anything in the shell. We told the waitress but she just whisked away the plates without any care or concern or even trying to correct the problem.

Ceviche was so good!!! 5/5 chips were amazing! So much flavor, I would get this again

Mahi tacos 4/5. Flavor was great, loved the sauce and toppings. Confused as what the cheese crusted tortillas were. Only some dried crunchy cheese in the inside.

Kalabi ribs 3/5 good flavor but the pieces of meat were thin and fatty. Could use something other than rice to accompany it.

Overall food was 4/5 and I would love to try other dishes. The service though only 2/5, maybe it was a bad night.

Decided to give this place a shot after being open since May. Wanted to give them some time to work out the kinks and find their groove.

I must say they are on the right track for sure. Got an order of the clam strips and the manilla steamers. Clam strips were tender and delicious with a light batter. $7 for HH. The Steamers were tasty although many of them were blow apart and shredded. Overcooked just a bit, but still pretty tasted pretty good. $12 HH

Also tried the shishito peppers with lemon ponzu and puffed rice. The peppers were very addicting and delicious. I would order these every time I come here.

The place used to be very dark when it was called Schooners and now has a brighter feel to the place. Mark Gutierrez has taken over the chef duties and this place is definitely headed in the right direction. I'll be back.

When I found out that Ohana had one of the chefs from Playground in downtown Santa Ana I had to try it out. I took my parents there as well as my Aunt & Uncle who were in from Missouri, we all enjoyed our meal! The menu was full of all sorts of different items from different parts of the world and it didn't disappoint. The special of the night was the short rib which was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. Definitely try the Cauliflower Appetizer as well as the Fried Clams. My Uncle said the Fish Tacos were to die for and my Dad said his Salmon was Perfect.

This place got a bad rap for the first few months it was open because of the first chef that they had. Once Mark came in it changed everything. I guarantee if you go there and try their food now you will fall in love with it. They have a fun bar as well, always lively.

We were heading to Captain Jacks for dinner but it was too busy so we thought we'd give Ohana a shot. It was a bit later on Saturday night around 9pm or so and the music was playing so we walked to the back of the restaurant and sat down.

We were immediately greeted by a server who took our drink order. They had a good amount of wine's to choose from. We had the Caesar salad and Shrimp Tacos. The lettuce and veggies were super fresh and the dressing was amazing. Everything is made from scratch. The shrimp were jumbo and cooked perfectly. We spoke with the chef and couldn't compliment him enough on the presentation and ingredients.

We had the cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing. The service and food were incredible. Definitely give this place a chance. The only reason we gave it 4 stores is that they had a country music band. Not our taste in music but we were able to get away from in in the back of the restaurant. We look forward to going back again!

The food was wonderful and desert was spot-on. Loved how this place has so many different types of food you would never expect it walking through the door, very pleasantly surprised.

Great service. After a long day at the beach Ohana's is an awsome place to kick back, have a drink and eat some delicious food. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and energetic. I had the house burger it was hands down one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The meat was flavorful and the buns are made in house daily so the combination was epic. I washed it down with a Ballast Point Double IPA that had some dank hops. The food and drinks were good on price considering the area and there was a fun vibe. Definitely a chill mix of locals and tourists. Thank you Ohana's our experience was awsome. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone traveling or living in the area.

First time here. Service is great, drinks are good, food is delicious!!! Definitely coming back.

Though the name may endure identity crisis, the beer selection & most of the food remains killer. Staff is always nice & all the other locals are always nice & toasty. Miss the kale slaw tho, one of the best sides ever! Only thing, the stale beer smell could use some TLC...

  • *****

We stopped here after a bike ride and I had been told it wasnt that good but we loved it! Easy going vibe, music, sports on. The food was good! Simple, came out hot and fresh. We had the burger and BLTA and both were really good! They have a good selection of beer on tap and the skinny margaritas were amazing!!

Fun little stop on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
